Apollo Energy Light Review

If you are looking for an Apollo energy light for S.A.D. then you have come to the right place. The Sad Light Box Review team have compared Apollo and other leading lightbox products such as Philips to see if Apollo’s are worth their weight in gold. The short answer is – they are. If you are in a hurry, here are the links to our best Apollo lights on the market at the moment, all at discounted prices:

Apollo energy lights are one of the most popular brands in the US, with the Apollo Health goLITE p1 claiming to be the world’s smallest light therapy device. No wonder it’s raved about by Americans and Brits alike as it’s so convenient to use and doesn’t take effort to set up.

The Apollo Health goLITE (available in the UK) is a small SAD blue light with lots of functionality. We love it simply because it’s small, smart, and you can set the intensity of the light output to suit your daily requirement. It is a very powerful light, delivering as much Lux as full sized lightboxes.

The Apollo Health goLITE ticks another box for us – it has a built in timer. This is simple, but so important as you will probably use your Apollo light whilst working or some other activity. The last thing needed is to be distracted by watching the clock. This will either interrupt you, or you may overrun on your light bath which is not recommended.

The Sad Light Box team all use this product after sampling it. It packs down to fit in any purse, handbag or laptop case so it really is helpful to have nearby if you are working and are losing focus or energy.

You can use the Apollo golite at any time of day. I personally have an afternoon ‘slump’ around 3pm after lunch and towards the end of the working day. This is when I most like to switch my Apollo energy light on as it increases my performance 100%.

Here’s just one of lots of great customer statements on the Apollo goLITE:

I’ve used a “normal” light box for some 10 years. It means I can fall asleep at bed time during the winter instead of several hours later. I’ve tried the P1 instead of the lightbox for two months now, and I have to say that this little blue-light gizmo is just as effective for me as the lightbox.
Dr.P.D.Rudman, 8 Jan 2008

It’s also portable, which means if I go away for a week in winter I can still sleep normally. I find a setting of 75% for 20 minutes each morning at 2-3 metres from my eyes is best (I put it on the floor about a metre from my feet – don’t stare at it, just keep it visible).

The US and Canada have a smashing little light – the Apollo briteLITE 6. As all markets are different across the world, the US don’t stock the Apollo Golite p1. The Apollo briteLIGHT does have excellent customer reviews, and also costs less than the Apollo goLITE, so it’s win win.

The briteLIGHT is a full spectrum lightbox, and is one of the smallest of its kind so it is easy to carry around and store away. It has a lux rating of 10000 which is great, anything less just wont do the job.

Another plus of the britelite is that it has been around for 20 years (of course with regular updates and improved products) and has been the leading choice for doctors, researchers and hospitals because it is so affective.

The Apollo Britelite has been most affective at treating depression, mood swings and jet lag, as well as sleep problems.

At Sad Light Box, we would rate this light box as being the best full size light on the market right now. It weighs just 6lb, so its a winner.

One more product I just want to mention is the Apollo Daybreak Duo Dawn Simulator. This is a brilliant little sad alarm clock that truly works. The Apollo Daybreak duo will simulate a gorgeous warm sunrise in the morning, and a calming sunset at night to send you off to sleep in a truly relaxed state.

The advantage of the daybreak duo is that your body will have the opportunity to complete the last very important phase of sleep, rather than being woken up with a noisy alarm and feeling cross rather than energised.

Don’t just take myself and my review teams word for it though. Here’s a great review that I found on the Apollo Daybreak:

My husband bought this for me as I am AWFUL at getting up and especially hate the winter mornings. I love this clock- it is a gentle wake up and I actually dont feel so bad as I’m not being jolted out of sleep by a loud alarm.I would definately recommend it. You can have alarm only, dawn only, radio or combinations of the above. It has a 2 wake up time options great for work days and weekends. It uses your usual bedside lamp- I haven’t bought a special lightbulb at all.

Extra Apollo Energy Light com news

You will probably know that all Apollo Lights are leading in the market of lightboxes, with Apollo energy lights being used by medical professionals across the world.

If you do decide to invest in a Apollo golite p1, an Apollo Dawn simulator or an Apollo briteLITE, then remember that you will only need to use them for a fraction of the time of conventional light boxes to get the maximum benefits.

The Apollo Health golite p1 is recommended if you work unsociable hours, travel alot, or think you will be using the Apollo golite at work. It is the smallest light box available, and folds down to the size of a small book.

Remember to not over use the light in the first few weeks whilst your eyes are getting adjusted to the light intensity. I now use mine as a lamp for doing detailed work or crafts, so you can use it anywhere at any time. It is however recommended that you don’t use the lamp after 8pm, otherwise this will disturb your internal body clock.

Sad Lightpod review

If you are looking for a Sad Lightpod review then you have come to the correct place. The Sad Light Box review team are dedicated to finding the best priced products and giving honest evaluations of what to buy and what not to buy. If you are in a hurry, here are the links to the best priced litepod products on the market at the moment:

>>>>Find out more about Full Spectrum Lighting Litepod (UK)

>>>>See more about Litepod Travel Set (Light Box and Travel Case) (UK)

Unfortunately, the brand Litepod do not distribute in the US and Canada, so we have come up with a comparible product that functions in the same way so that you don’t have to compromise on quality. It is also very stylish just like the Litepod, extremely compact and great value for money.

The Sad Light Box Review team got together to do a special review on the Litepod sad light box. We compared it to leading light box competitors, such as Philips compact SAD lamps and the Rio desk SAD lamp. The Litepod has a couple of features that puts it head and shoulder above its rivals.

What the Litepod really has going for it is hinted in the name – it is light, so easy to transport, and it is compact so can fit discreetly into your home or work place. The Litepod sad light box is currently the smallest lightbox of its kind on the market at the moment.

The Sad Light Box Review teams favourite feature of the Litepod is that whilst treatment can be completed in 45 minutes, you can leave your sad Litepod sad light on all day if you wish as it is a great working light and wont harm you. This is something that you cannot do with other sad lamps as your eyes will become strained.

Unlike other compact SAD lightboxes, the Litepod sad light has the full 10,000 Lux power that you need to get the most benefits out of your light therapy. Some competitors have as little as 5,000 Lux output. It has been scientifically proven that 5,000 Lux is likened to a partially sunny day rather than brilliant sunshine which is of course what most of us are looking for.

The Full Spectrum Lighting Litepod that we have found above is a brilliant product at a great price. Because Seasonal Affective Disorder is so disabling, causing symptoms that range from depression to anxiety to insomnia, Litepod have managed to bring you this Light box with no VAT added. With the VAT ommision, the Litepod that we sourced is a truly affordable piece of kit.

Here is one of a folder of reviews that we sourced on the Litepod Sad Light:

“I bought this for my husband to use in the office and I cannot emphasise enough what a difference it made to him in the space of 3-4 days! He very quickly felt that the energy he seemed to be lacking had returned and then some!
He uses it every morning for a couple of hours and even brings it home at weekends to contnue with this pattern. The benefit that I am getting without using this product myself is that he does the ironing at home when having his weekend sessions. Everyone is a winner!”

J. Warren (Scotland)

For those of you who know that you will be traveling with your Litepod to work or on holiday, I thoroughly recommend that you get yourself the Litepod Travel Set. It is the same as the regular Litepod, except that you will be able to carry it in its own special bag to protect it during transit.

The Litepods all come with 3 years warranty, which is brilliant as most other products, including Philips, will only give you a maximum of 2 years as standard.

If you live in the US or Canada, you will love the SunBox Sunlight Jr. Portable Sunlight. It has to be the most popular sad light purchased to date in America and Canada.

As the name hints, it is lightweight and easy to transport. It has an innovative triangular shape so that it can be slotted in almost anywhere.

The maximum output of the Sunlight Jr. is 10,000 Lux which is what you must have if you want to get the best light therapy treatment. You can also position yourself further away from the light to reduce the Lux if your eyes need a period of adjustment.

The glare free Sunlight Jr. has a 2 year warranty on the bulb, and a lifetime warranty on the light itself. The Sad Light Box Review team have never seen this anywhere before, we are still in shock! Who doesn’t want a lifetime warranty on thier product purchase?

The Sad Light Box team have to say that the Sunlight Jr is in our top 3 favourites in the US.

If you want proof that this product is really worth it, then I can help. Here is just one of lots of great reviews that we have collated:

“I have had seasonal depression (SAD) for as long as I can remember. I am 40 Now and have been getting treatment since I was 27. My previous treatment was increasing my antidepressant in the winter in about the end of September through March. I lived in Wisconsin, Where the days are very short in the winter. I would take out my lamp and sit in front of it for 45 min -1hour per day and in December increase it to twice a day. I was able to eliminate the increase of antidepressant medication. And I felt better than ever before! More energy, the SAD was gone. If I felt it coming back, I took another 30 min on the light and it would shoot it down. I started this when I was 29 in 1999, and am still using the light each winter season with the same success. I now live in Texas, and do not have to take it out until Nov 1, but I get the same results. It is now 2009. Thank God for my SunBox! I don’t even leave home without it in the winter months.”
Jenny .S., Texas 2009

We thoroughly recommend that you check out these great products whilst they are VAT free and good value for money.

Extra Litepod Tips and Tactics

If you are investing in a Sad Litepod Sad Light, it is a really good idea to spend the extra few pounds to get a travel case. You will be suprised as how quickly your light can get damaged or scratched, especially on public transport.

Remember that Sad Litepods can be used as regular work lights as well as for light therapy treatment. Try using your litepod lightbox whilst working on the  computer or when doing any detailed work such as craft or simply whilst reading.

To avoid eyes strain or headaches, build up light baths slowly, starting with 10 minutes on your first day.

Litebook Review

The Sad Light Box Review team chose a panel of 10 volunteers, male and female, with an age range of 18 to 60. The majority of the panel as well as my large review team liked the litebook elite for the same reasons:

It is lightweight and small so can suit any modern busy lifestyle, it is worth the money as the benefits of light therapy were found after just 3 days for some people. The panel were also pleased with the findings of the research study carried out to prove or disprove the benefits of using the litebook, as well as the sleek design of the light. The litebook carrier is also great because it holds the litebook and charger securely in place to prevent damage in transit.

The added bonus is that the Litebook sad light box comes with a 2 year warranty, so you have peace of mind that if you have any problems with the product you can get a replacement.

The only down side of the litebook elite is that it does require fully charging to last for the full two hours. The good news is that the rechargable batteries last forever, so no expensive replacement batteries to buy.

The Sad Light Box Review Team love this product. We found it to be great value for what it is, at just $199.95 in the US, or £146 in the UK.

The Litebook is the size of a portable cd player, we were pleased to find that it is really light weight and easy to take with you on your travels or commute with its special carry case.

This has to be the smallest SAD light box around at the moment. Perhaps that is why it’s so popular as it fit any modern living. It is scientifically proven to help reset your body clock on a daily basis with as little as 15 minutes ‘light bathing’ each day.

The litebook sad light uses innovative white light technology. It creates specific wavelengths that is identical to the peak wavelengths of the sun. That’s why the body has been proven to respond so well to the litebooks light baths.

Don’t just take our word for it about how good this product is. Here is just one of many Litebook Elite S.A.D. Light customer reviews that we sourced:

“Beat those winter blues with this excellent device. It’s rechargeable, small and comes with a very elegant and practical carry case including an ingenious multi country plug adapters useful for world travelers. This is a medically proven device now available to the general public at a very reasonable price & the supplier is a pleasure to deal with. Get one and feel better.”
John Crosby, Surrey, 14/10/2009

The Litebook would be a great addition to anyones desk or bedside table. It omits the perfect intensity of light to keep you alert, focused and positive throughout the day.

Out of all the light boxes and pods that I have surveyed, this is definitely one of my favourites. I have a longterm history of depression and generalised anxiety, and to be honest, lightboxes have transformed my life, especially through the winter months.

Additional Litebook tips and tactics

The Litebook Elite is a super item if you travel alot or if your work unsociable hours or night shifts. Whether you are battling with jetlag, or you are an unsettled sleeper on most nights, the litebook sad light will really change your life around – I am not exaggerating.

After going through many Winters by relying on antidepressants, I decided to give light therapy a go. It really works.

If you choose to buy the Litebook, and you are using a lightbox for the first time, I recommend that you start off by using the lightbox for just 10 minutes to begin with, and build up the time so that you don’t get an unwanted side effects such as headaches.

It is always wise to start light therapy gradually, perhaps over a weekend or when you are not at work to see if it suits you. If you need any further litebook review, please leave a comment below and I will endeavour to answer your questions.

Philips goLITE Review

Philips goLITEIf you are looking for information and product reviews on the Go Lite Sad Therapy Light Box then you have come to the right place. The Go Lite happens to be one of the Sad Light Box Review teams favourites. If you are in a hurry, here are the links to the cheapest Go lites that we could find in the UK, US and Canada.

>>>>Find out more about Philips goLITE BLU Energy Light (US only)

>>>>Find out more about Philips HF3330 goLITE BLU Energy Light (UK only)

The golite lights therapy box by Philips is one of the most innovative of its kind. It ticks all of the boxes for us, and here’s why.

Firstly, it is a mid range priced product, so it wont break the bank. At the moment it is 50% at our UK source, and is as competitively priced in the US.

You may have heard good reviews about the goLITE p1. This was one of Philips earlier models that sold out almost everywhere.

The new goLITE HF3330 shown above is the lastest Philips sad box. The goLITE uses blue light tehcnology unlike other lower range sad light boxes that use white light. Blue light is specifically important to the success of sad light therapy treatment because there are special light receptors in our eyes that respond most efficiently to the blue part of the light spectrum.

The Sad Light Box Therapy Review team also found that the Philips goLITE blu produced the fastest results, with users depressive symptoms being alleviated in as little as 3 days just by using the light for a minimum of 15 minutes each day. This was much faster than other lightbox products that we tested (such as the Apollo GoLITE that is a variant on the original Philips goLITE).

We love the Philips golite blu light because it can be taken anywhere and used anywhere. Alot of the sad light boxes on the market are larger and clunkier models which are not great for everyday use. Consumers often buy these instead of the compact models because they believe that the larger surface area of light is more beneficial to the smaller light panel. To put it plainly, this is not true, especially with the Philips golite blue.

The goLITE HF3330 has a new wider field of light that allows you to engage in other activites whilst getting your light therapy. This is brilliant otherwise getting your quota of daily light could seriously set you back and make you late. Instead you can now get ready, eat your breakfast or catch up on your emails whilst sitting in front of the goLITE.

Don’t just take our words as gospel on how highly we recommend the Philips goLITE. Here is a review that we sourced from a customer who took a ‘break’ from using thier goLITE to see if it had really made a difference in altering the levels of serotonin in the body, or whether it was all just a placebo:

“Edit 23-2-10: I tried out a week of not using it to see what would happen (a ‘control’ week, if you like), and the effects were noticeable, even though they crept up on me rather slowly; I became rather irritable and tired after 5 or 6 days – snapping rather unpleasantly at loved ones, and I found it hard to get to sleep. Rather than continue the misery I switched on the light again, and three days later I’m feeling a lot better for it again.”
L. Hennessy, London, 3 Dec 2009

Whether you have tried Seasonal Affective Disorder lightboxes before and have not found the right one for you, or if you are a beginner and want to make the right investment without wasting lots of your hard earned cash, I strongly recommend that you take a look at the Philips Golite to see just how well it will fit into your lifestyle.

Additional Philips goLITE tips and news

If you are planning on using the Philips goLITE blue light therapy box, and it is your very first experience of sitting in front of blue light, I recommend a few ways of getting your body used to the change in light frequency.

Firstly, if you can, start using your Philips goLITE over a weekend. I say this because if you use it for the first time on a normal working day, there is a small chance that you will experience some mild side effects – usually either a headache or slightly blurred vision. I hasten to reassure you that this is all perfectly normal, and the symptoms will subside in a few days (if you get them at all).

If you are severely affected after light therapy treatment, try taking some painkillers and wait 2 days before starting light therapy again. If symptoms persist, it is only then necessary to see your doctor as a precaution.

Another way to avoid headaches is to ease yourself into light therapy gradually. Start by using your light on its lowest setting (if it has a light adjustment setting). Then build up to the light level that is most comfortable for you over a period of a week.

If you suspect or you find that you are particularly light sensitive, try opting for a dawn simulator sad alarm clock to begin with. This is a milder version and will get you out of bed in the morning with lots of energy and in a good mood no matter what the weather is outside. Here are two of our favourite SAD alarm clocks:

>>>>See more about Philips HF3463 Wake-Up Light With Radio Alarm (UK only)

>>>>NatureBright Dia2 Blue Light and Dawn Simulator Alarm Clock (US only)

>>>>learn more about iBoutique Natural Sunrise Alarm Clock (UK only)

If this works well for you, but you still need help to alleviate unwanted depressive or fatigue symptoms, then try using a light box with a maximum of 10000 Lux.

Most of all, enjoy being bathed in light!

Sad Alarm Clock Review

Sad Light Alarm ClockIf you are searching for a sad alarm clock then you have come to the right site. I will if I may suggest a light therapy alarm clock or two that will suit any budget and need. In a hurry? Here are the links to our best sad light alarm clocks:

The three sad alarm clocks above are our top 3 products on the market at the moment. The Philips sad alarm clock HF3463 Wake-Up Light With Radio Alarm has is my personal favourite. This one ticks all of the boxes for us. It can be set up to 300 Lux, which is very bright and is only advised for people who sleep extremely soundly.

Philips are of course a global brand with over 20 years of experience in creating Seasonal Affective Disorder light boxes and alarm clocks. Philips always offer a minimum of 2 years warranty with thier products so that you can be confident that they repair or replace any faulty lights.

The main reason why the Sad Light Box Review team like this product so much is because it can be set to either your favourite radio station, a gentle beep, or even better you can listen to soothing birdsong or other natural sounds as you wake.

The Philips sad alarm clock takes half an hour to gently brighten up and increased to your maximum volume settings. It’s the closest thing to sleeping out under the stars that we have ever seen.

The Philips Wake-up light has so many brilliant reviews all over the internet. Here’s just one of many that we collated:

“This clock is brilliant, I use it every weekday morning and the gentle increase in light has us both awake before the need for any sounds. You wake up feeling a lot fresher and your eyes aren’t as sore than regular wake up methods.”
Ms. L. Mostefa, 23 Nov 2009

Close runners up are NatureBright Dia2 Blue Light and Dawn Simulator Alarm Clock and the iBoutique Natural Sunrise Alarm Clock.

The NatureBright (available in the US and Canada) is another firm favourite. Firstly, it mimics a sunny blue sky with its optimal wavelength of blue light and high colour temperature. Even if it’s dull and grey outside, it will feel like the middle of summer in your bedroom!

The Dia2 Blue light and dawn simulator alarm clock is perfect for use as a sad light sunrise alarm clock blue light, or as a regular light box for use around the house (it has a maximum of 4500 Lux to suit all therapy needs).

The voting panel at Sad Light Box Review prefer this product to others in the US because it has so many functions. It is also recommended by “the sleep doctor” Michael Breus PHD. Here’s just one of many great customer reviews that we found:

“I’ll admit I have more than your average tiredness factor, because of chronic illness. So giving me a more energized start to my day is a pretty tall order. I am thrilled to report, though, that this light therapy device did just that!

I especially love the SUNRISE setting, where you can set it to gently increase in brightness over a set period of time (30 or 60 minutes, for example) BEFORE you are getting up.”
B.Murray, March 11 2010

Last but not least, there is the iBoutique Natural Sunrise Alarm Clock. This one is for people on more of a tight budget – it is reduced to £24.99 at the moment. This brilliant little light has a 1 year warranty and a 90 day money-back guarantee so you can really test drive it out.

The iBoutique has 15 blue LED lights built in to gently wake you up over 20 minutes. It’s great for people who suffer from S.A.D. check it out to see the great reviews. Here’s just one of many reports on this sad alarm clock:

“A nice little clock with a pleasing wake up light. I was also impressed with the seller’s customer service. I had a question that was dealt with both courteously and efficiently. Oh, the price is also worthy of note – excellent value. Don’t be fooled by imitations. Many thanks.”

Additional Sad Alarm Clock Review Tips

Whether you suffer from winter blues, mild to moderate depression, insomnia, fatigue, or you simply are not a morning person, a sad lamp alarm clock will really change your day.

Do you realise that how you wake up in the morning affects your entire day? You may have had a bad nights sleep and find it difficult to stir when the alarm goes off, or maybe your alarm jolts you out of a deep sleep with blaring music or annoying beep.

What I didn’t realise until recently is that noisy unatural alarm clocks can actually trigger the ‘fight or flight’ response in your body. Humans are programmed to wake up to sunlight, therefore the conventional alarm clock is the complete opposite to a gentle wake-up call from the sun. Nobody enjoys feeling stressed out after a rude awakening from an noisy alarm.

Who else would like to be woken up every morning by dawn sunlight? Sad light sunrise alarm clocks simulate a sunrise right in your bedroom. Seasonal Affective Disorder light boxes are commonly used by people suffering from winter blues, depression, insomnia or other mental health complaints. More and more people that simply don’t like getting out of bed in the morning (i’m one of them) are turning to sad alarm clocks to start off the day in the best possible way.

The benefits of a sad light sunrise alarm clock blue light are vast. Firsly, you will find yourself waking up with energy, as well as feeling relaxed and refreshed. You wont be needing the caffiene intake that you usually require to kickstart your day!

The combined features of a traditional alarm clock with a gradual increase in light is as natural as it gets. The best sad lights also have a sunset feature, great for kids and adults that have difficulty falling asleep.

Who would be without thier snooze button? This is built in to a sad alarm clock, along with a nap timer, a radio and more. If you are a sound sleeper, many light therapy alarm clocks will flash bright light when it is time to get up so that you don’t miss the alarm.

If you are concerned that a light alone will not wake you up, then I would just like to reassure you. Human eyes are very sensitive to morning light because they have been in darkness all night. When our eyes sense this increased ammount of light, a signal is sent to the brain that triggers the production of Serotonin which causes us to slowly wake.

A panel of volunteers, along with the Sad Light Box Review team tested tens of depression light therapy products to see if any would fit our criteria. Among the tested products were the brands Philips, Diamond, Sunrise System, Medlight, and product types such as traditional simple large lightboxes, compact tabletop or travel light boxes, and S.A.D. alarm clocks (This list is not exhaustive).

We also tested various strength lights, from 5000 Lux to 10000 Lux to see if there was an obvious difference.

Our Findings were conclusive. Our winning brand is Philips. This is because they offer a great product guarantee, they have been developing light boxes for over 20 years, and they offer superb functionality in every light box product that is unlike any other seasonal depression lamp on the market at the moment.

There are three Philips products above for you to choose from, so do take a look them all. The other two listed – the UpLift Day Light Natural Light Lamp and SAD Light 10,000 High LUX Lamp are close runners up, and will fit a slightly smaller budget. Having said that, you will probably know that S.A.D lights are not the cheapest products out there, but who can put a price on your health?

Don’t just take our word for it on how pleased we are with our top 5. Here is one of many glowing customer reviews that we found about the Philips goLITE blue :

“Very pleased with this item from the first time I used it. I am an older pensioner & this light seems to have given me a new life! After that first use, having followed the instruction booklet (as best I could), I almost immediately felt as though a weight had been lifted from body; my whole being felt lighter. I now use it for 30 minutes every morning when eating my breakfast at around 6 a.m. – I am an early riser! I think I have made a great investment in making my everyday life a whole lot easier in getting about. I would highly recommend it to anyone who suffers with dark, cold early morning “blahs”.”

Extra Winter Depression Light News

Winter depression can be extremely debilitating. Myself and the Sad Light Box Review team advocate strongly for all sufferers to use a seasonal depression lamp. If you have depressive symptoms around the time of Autumn and Winter that lasts for several months, or if you work shifts or unsociable hours, then a light for winter depression can really help.

I can also speak from experience that you can even feel the effects of fatigue and depression through the summer months. A depression lamp can really turn your life around, especially if it has a gentle wake-up function that simulates a sunrise right in your bedroom.

I have a long history of depression and generalised anxiety disorder that started when I was just 10 years old. I was prescribed medication from the age of 14 to manage the illness that I was suffering from, not realising that anti-depressants could be addictive. It was only this year, aged 26, that I decided to give blue light therapy a go. All I can say is, if you want to treat S.A.D. or other mental health complaints, a light box is the way forward. You can even be drug free after short term lightbox treatment.

Who doesn’t want to be free of nasty medications with unknown long term side effects and addictive properties?

Amazon seems to be a winner here. They have come out as the cheapest distributers of big brand lightboxes. And we know that they can be trusted. Thanks Amazon!

S.A.D. can be triggered by many factors, including frequent travel to different time zones, shift work, and of course long long winters. Light therapy sounds like a good idea, but if you are like me you will be feeling skeptical as to whether it really works. Sad light treatment – is it really true, or just a weird hippy inspired technological fad?

The Sad Light Box Review team selected a panel of volunteers earlier this year who suffer from many health complaints from insomnia, depression and anxiety, to chronic fatigue amongst others conditions. I was also personally on the panel myself as I have a history of depression and generalised anxiety disorder.

The results were conclusive – the best light therapy boxes are from Philips. Not only are they a long standing reputable company that can definitely be trusted, they are also lighting specialists that have been developing light boxes for over 20 years.

This means that you are entitled to a long term warranty so that you can be happy with your product for many years safe in the knowledge that Philips will repair any faults.

You will also notice a few other suggested lights for S.A.D. above that come in as close runners up. All of our top 5 Seasonal Affective Disorder lights use long life blue light technology so that you wont have to outlay money for expensive bulbs soon after your purchase. Many of the other light boxes that we considered use cheaper materials and bulbs which only have a lifespan of approximately one year with regular use of the light.

The  Philips SAD light box is brilliant in our opinion as it ticks all of the boxes for us.

Firstly, it is compact and stylish, so it will fit on any desk or table without taking up lots of space or looking like an eye-sore. The compact design also means that you can take it with you anywhere – to work, on a holiday or business trip, and of course for use in the home.

The  Philips SAD light box is small, but radiates a wider field of light than other lightboxes of this size. This means that you can engage in other pastimes or work whilst sitting in front of the goLITE, with no need to sit closely and stare at the light.

The other box that the  goLITE ticked for us was that there is a treatment reminder alarm, and you can use the light as a gentle wakeup light therapy alarm clock. This is perfect as it is important that you don’t over expose yourself to light treatment.

The goLITE is a one of a kind. It is slightly more expensive than other sad lightboxes, but the quality and cost efficiency in the long term makes it worth it. The goLITE won’t break the bank, and of course your health doesn’t have a price tag on it.

Do take a look at all of the products above. If there is anything lacking, or you need more information on any light box reviews, leave a comment below and I would be happy to help.

Additional Seasonal Affective Disorder Light Therapy Tips And Tactics

Of course when choosing a sad light box, you will know that price is an issue. Light boxes are expensive items, so it is vital that you get the right one, otherwise you will have wasted alot of your hard earned cash.

Try to choose a sad lamp that has approx 10000 lux brightness range (lux means lighting levels). The lower lux products are of course cheaper, but you will be compromising on the benefits of light therapy treatment.

When choosing sad lighting, think about the practicality of using and transporting your light. Ask yourself the questions of ‘do you have enough space?’ ‘where will you be using the light?’ and so on. If you plan to travel with your light, make sure that it is compact enough to pop into your suitcase or into your hand luggage.
